Rule 25-G203 - PRE-OPERATING PROCEDURES - JEWELRY SELECTION, AND EQUIPMENT SETUP*
203.1

All licensed operators shall ensure customers and body artists select together the appropriate size and quality of jewelry prior to beginning the body-piercing procedure. Appropriate jewelry shall be made of:

(a) ASTM F138, ISO 5832-1, ISO 10993-6, ISO 10993-10 and/or 10993-11, and stainless steel;
(b) Solid 14k through 18k yellow or white gold;
(c) Niobium;
(d) ASTM F136 titanium or ASTM F67 titanium;
(e) Platinum; or
(f) Other materials found to be equally biocompatible.
203.2

All jewelry shall be free of nicks, scratches, or irregular surfaces and is properly sterilized prior to use.

203.3

All equipment and supplies, including but not limited to distilled water, inks, pigments, and all packages containing sterile instruments, pre-sterilized, single-use jewelry, and pre- sterilized, single-use disposable items shall be opened in front of the customer.
