Rule 25-E207 - PREVENTING CONTAMINATION - REUSABLE INSTRUMENTS AND STERILIZATION PROCEDURES [(Critical Section)]207.1Licensees shall ensure reusable instruments are cleaned by gloved personnel prior to sterilization as specified in § 203.6 using the following methods:
(a) Manually clean the items by using a stiff bristle brush under water with a solution of low-residue detergent, with care taken to ensure the removal of any pigment or body substances not visible to the eye, thoroughly rinse with at least warm water and then drain, and clean by soaking in a protein dissolving detergent-enzyme cleaner used according to the manufacturer's instructions; or(b) Rinse and dry the items prior to packaging for sterilization.D.C.
