Section 9B.11 - Bicycle Regulatory Signs (R3-7bP, R9-5, R9-6, R10-4, R10-24, R10-25, and R10-26)Option:
01 The R9-5 sign (see Figure 9B-2) may be used where the crossing of a street by bicyclists is controlled by pedestrian signal indications.02 Where it is not intended for bicyclists to be controlled by pedestrian signal indications, the R10-4, R10-24, or R10-26 sign (see Figure 9B-2 and Section 2B.52) may be used. Guidance:
03 If used, the R9-5, R10-4, R10-24, or R10-26 signs should be installed near the edge of the sidewalk in the vicinity of where bicyclists will be crossing the street. Option:
04 If bicyclists are crossing a roadway where In-Roadway Warning Lights (see Section 4N.02) or other warning lights or beacons have been provided, the R10-25 sign (see Figure 9B-2) may be used.05 The R9-6 sign (see Figure 9B-2) may be used where a bicyclist is required to cross or share a facility used by pedestrians and is required to yield to the pedestrians. 06 (DE Revision) There are circumstances where it may be appropriate to exempt bicyclists from regulatory restrictions applied to other traffic. Guidance:
07 (DE Revision) Where an engineering study finds that it is appropriate to exempt bicyclists from the provisions of a regulatory sign, the EXCEPT Bicycles (R3-7bP) plaque (see Figure 9B-2) should be used. Standard:
08 (DE Revision) The EXCEPT Bicycles (R3-7bP) plaque shall not be used to change assignment of right-of-way at STOP or YIELD signs, or to override a traffic signal indication.09 (DE Revision) The EXCEPT Bicycles (R3-7bP) plaque shall be placed below the regulatory sign affected by the plaque.2 Del.
