Section 702-3-3.0 - Inclined Wheelchair Lifts Permitted3.1 Location. 3.1.1 A single inclined wheelchair lift may be installed in buildings meeting all of the following criteria: 3.1.1.1 Where permitted, the inclined wheelchair lift may serve only the first two (2) floors above the level of exit discharge and only one (1) floor below the level of exit discharge of any building, and;3.1.1.2 There are at least two mean of egress from each floor of the building, that are in compliance with the applicable provisions of the State Fire Prevention Regulations, and;3.1.1.3 The total occupant load may not exceed thirty (30) persons per floor, and;3.1.1.4 The building to be equipped with the inclined wheelchair lift shall be protected with an automatic smoke detection and fire alarm signaling system in accordance with the National Fire Alarm Code, NFPA 72, and;3.1.1.5 There shall be an interface of the controls for the inclined wheelchair lift and the fire alarm signaling system to have the wheelchair lift return to the level of exit discharge, and remain there, if the lift happens to be in use when the fire alarm signaling system is activated, and;3.1.1.6 The inclined wheelchair lift shall be provided with an auxiliary power source to ensure operation of the lift in the event of a loss of building power, and;3.1.1.7 The inclined wheelchair lift shall be provided with controls that will permit the fire department to control the movement of the lift, and;3.1.1.8 When not in use the inclined wheelchair lift shall be stored in an upright position or shall be otherwise designed to be stored in a manner that will not obstruct egress in any way.3.1.2 For each floor of a building to be served with an inclined wheelchair lift, only one of the two required means of egress as specified in § 3.1.1.2 of this Chapter, may have an inclined wheelchair lift installed.1 Del.
