Section 500.29 - Combination packages(a) A combination package is a package intended for retail sale, containing two or more individual packages or units of dissimilar commodities. The declaration of net quantity for a combination package will contain an expression of weight or mass, volume, measure or count or a combination, thereof, as appropriate for each individual package or unit: Provided, that the quantity statements for identical packages or units shall be combined.Examples
(1) Lighter fluid and flints: "2 cans-each 8 fl. ozs. (236 mL); 1 package-8 flints."(2) Sponges & Cleaner: "2 sponges each 4 in. * 6 in. * 1 in. (10.1 * 15.2 * 2.5 cm); 1 box cleaner-Net Wt. 6 ozs. (170 g)"(3) Picnic Pack: "20 spoons, 10 knives and 10 forks, 10 2-ply napkins 10 ins. * 10 ins. (25.4 * 25.4 cm) 10 cups-6 fl. ozs. (177 mL)".(b) When the individual units in a combination package are either packaged or labeled and are intended for retail sale as individual units, each unit shall be in compliance with the applicable regulations under this part 500.
