Section 5572 - Emergency Disconnect Switches
(a) One or more clearly identified and readily accessible emergency disconnect switch(es) or other approved means shall be provided and installed at approved location(s) to stop the transfer of fuel to the fuel dispensers in the event of a fuel spill or emergency.

(b) The emergency disconnect switch for attended motor fuel dispensers shall be installed at a location acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction, but shall be more than 20 feet, but less than 100 feet from dispensers.
(c) The emergency disconnect switch for unattended motor fuel dispensing facilities shall be installed at a location acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction, but shall be more than 20 feet, but less than 100 feet from dispensers. The emergency disconnect switch shall be readily accessible to the patrons, and at least one additional device or disconnect switch shall be readily accessible to each group of dispensing devices on an individual island.
(d) For interior fuel-dispensing operations, the switch shall be installed at a location approved by the authority having jurisdiction.
(e) Emergency disconnect switch(es) shall be distinctly labeled as: EMERGENCY FUEL SHUTOFF. Signs shall be provided in approved locations.
(f) Emergency electrical disconnect switch(es) or device switch(es) shall disconnect power to all dispensing devices; to all remote pumps serving dispensing devices; to all associated power, control or signal circuit; and to all other electrical equipment in the hazardous (classified) locations surrounding the fuel dispensing devices.
(g) When more than one emergency disconnect switch or device is provided, all switches or devices shall be interconnected.
(h) Emergency controls shall be of a type which is only manually resettable.
