No non-affiliate shall, on University property, carry upon his/her person or have in his/her possession or under his/her control any Dangerous Weapon. For purposes of this Section, "Dangerous Weapon" means and includes, but is not limited to:
This section shall not apply to a duly appointed peace officer as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with section 830 of the California Penal Code), a full-time paid peace officer of another state or the federal government who is carrying out official duties while in this state, a person summoned by any officer to assist in making arrests or preserving the peace while the person is actually engaged in assisting any officer, a security guard authorized to carry a loaded firearm pursuant to California Penal Code section 12031 or to an honorably retired peace officer authorized to carry a concealed or loaded firearm pursuant to California Penal Code sections 12027(a) or (i), or California Penal Code section 12031(b)(1) or (8), or a member of the military forces of this state or the United States who is engaged in the performance of his or her duties This section shall not apply if, at the time of the alleged violation, the instrument or device alleged to be a Dangerous Weapon was in good faith carried upon the person or in his/her custody or control for use in his/her lawful occupation or employment.
