Section 17773 - Documentation of Child Protective Services(a) If eligibility and need as specified in Education Code sections 8208(c)(1)(A) and (c)(1)(B) are based on child protective services, the family data file shall contain a written referral, dated within the six months immediately preceding the date of application for services, from a legal, medical, social service agency or emergency shelter. The written referral shall include either: (1) A statement from the local county welfare department, child protective services unit certifying that the child is receiving child protective services and that early childhood services are a necessary component of the child protective services plan; or(2) A statement by a legally qualified professional that the child is at risk of abuse or neglect and the early childhood services are needed to reduce or eliminate that risk; and(b) The probable duration of the child protective service plan or the at-risk situation; and(c) The name, address, telephone number and signature of the legally qualified professional who is making the referral.Cal.
