Section 12035 - Terms
(a) A term of office for eligible parent members shall not exceed two years. An eligible parent member may not be elected to more than two terms. Such term limit shall also apply in those cases in which an eligible parent has served less than two years in a given term. No parent member may serve on the SPAC for more than four years, consecutive or otherwise.
(b) A term of office for an eligible community member shall not exceed one year. An eligible community member may not be elected to more than two terms. Such term limit shall also apply in those cases in which an eligible community member has served less than one year in a given term. No community member may serve on the SPAC for more than two years, consecutive or otherwise.
(c) For both parent and community members, service of any portion of a term shall constitute a full term, even if a parent relocates to another region.
(d) If an eligible parent member resides for more than six months within a region other than the region from which the member was elected, that member must forfeit his or her membership on the SPAC.
(e) If during his or her term, a parent member ceases to be a parent of a migrant child as defined by Education Code section 54441(a) and 34 C.F.R. section 200.81(e), such parent may complete his or her term on the SPAC. However, such a parent may not seek a subsequent term on the SPAC unless he or she again meets all of the requirements set forth in section 12031(c).
(f) Former parent members may not subsequently serve at any time as a community member, and former community members may not subsequently serve at any time as a parent member.
