(a) All jockeys, apprentice jockeys, and drivers must pass a physical examination at least once a year before the commencement of the first race meeting of the year in which such jockey, apprentice jockey or driver intends to participate, or at such other time as the Board may direct. Such examination will be given by a doctor designated or approved by the Board, and the examination shall include a visual acuity examination and a hearing examination.(b) In addition to subsection (a) above, the examination shall include a drug test to screen for such substances as described in subsections (b)(2)(A) through (b)(2)(E) of Rule 1500.1 of this article.(1) A positive finding for any of the drugs or classes of drugs described in subsections (b)(2)(A) through (b)(2)(E) of Rule 1500.1 of this article shall result in the jockey/driver not being cleared to ride/drive until he or she has successfully passed such examination.(c) The Board or the stewards may require that any jockey, apprentice jockey or driver be re-examined at any time, and the Board or the stewards may refuse to allow any jockey, apprentice jockey or driver to ride or drive until he or she has successfully passed such examination.Cal.
