This section applies only to privately owned wastewater treatment plants for which the State Water Board or a Regional Water Board has issued waste discharge requirements.
(a) No later than two years from the effective date of this section, all persons at a privately owned wastewater treatment plant performing duties that are comparable to the duties of an operator at a wastewater treatment plant shall possess at least a valid Grade I certificate, a valid provisional operator certificate, or a valid operator-in-training certificate and meet the requirements for operators set forth in section 3680 and 3680.2.(b) No later than two years from the effective date of this section, the owner of a privately owned wastewater treatment plant shall staff the wastewater treatment plant with operators of appropriate grade levels as prescribed in section 3680 or use a provisional operator in accordance with section 3680.2.(c) Notwithstanding the provisions in this section, a certified operator, certified provisional operator, or certified operator-in-training working at a privately owned wastewater treatment plant shall comply with the requirements of this chapter.Cal.
