Section 79767 - Standby Emergency Medical Service, Physician on Call, Staff(a) A physician shall have overall responsibility for the service. That physician, or his or her designee, shall be responsible for: (1) Implementation of established policies and procedures.(2) Development of a system for assuring physician coverage on call 24-hours a day to the emergency medical service.(3) Assurance that physician coverage is available within a reasonable length of time, relative to the inmate-patient's illness or injury.(4) Development of a roster of specialty physicians available for consultation.(5) Assurance of continuing education in emergency care procedures for the medical and nursing staff.(b) All physicians, dentists and podiatrists providing services in the emergency treatment area shall be employed by the correctional treatment center.(c) A registered nurse with training in emergency medical care shall be present or on call to the correctional treatment center at all times to provide emergency nursing care.(d) There shall be sufficient other personnel to support the services offered.Cal.
