To be approved by the Board, a certification course must be taught by one of the following persons:
(a) A physician and surgeon licensed by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California who within the previous five years: (1) Has had a minimum of six months of experience, including blood withdrawal and/or starting and superimposing intravenous fluids in an "organized health care system," as defined in Section 2860.5(c)(2) of the Code; or(2) Has had experience teaching courses in blood withdrawal and/or intravenous therapy.(b) A nurse licensed by the California Board of Registered Nursing who within the last five years: (1) Has had a minimum of six months of experience, including blood withdrawal and/or starting and superimposing intravenous fluids in an "organized health care system," as defined in Section 2860.5(c)(2) of the Code; or(2) Has had experience teaching courses in blood withdrawal and/or intravenous therapy; or(3) Has met the requirements for faculty of a Registered Nurse, Vocational Nurse or Psychiatric Technician program.(c) A clinical laboratory scientist (technologist), licensed by the California Department of Health Services who within the previous five years: (1) Has had a minimum of six months of experience performing blood withdrawal in an "organized health care system," as defined in Section 2860.5(b) of the Code; or(2) Has had experience teaching courses in blood withdrawal.Cal.
