Failure to renew a California certificate for five years requires the person to apply for a new certificate (Application for Physician's and Surgeon's Certificate OMB.1 Rev.01/92). A person may apply and the Board may issue a new certificate if:
(a) No fact, circumstance, or condition exists which would justify its denial, or if current, would justify its revocation or suspension.(b) He establishes to the satisfaction of the Board that, with due regard for the public interest, the person is qualified to practice or engage in the profession of physician and surgeon, either by reexamination or by review of experience and credentials.(c) He pays all of the fees that would be required of him if he were then applying for the license for the first time as set forth in Section 1690.(d) The processing times for issuance of a new certificate are set forth in Section 1691.Cal.
