Section R9-5-601 - General Physical Plant StandardsA licensee shall comply with the following physical plant requirements:
1. When a facility is licensed to care for more than five infants in an infant room as described in R9-5-502(A)(1), each infant room has two or more designated exits from the room;2. Not including infants and children who use diapers, toilets and hand-washing sinks are available to enrolled children in a facility as follows:a. At least one flush toilet and one hand-washing sink for 10 or fewer children,b. At least two flush toilets and two hand-washing sinks for 11 to 25 children, andc. At least one flush toilet and one hand-washing sink for each additional 20 children;3. A hand-washing sink required in R9-5-503(A)(2) or subsection (2) provides running water with a drain connected to a sanitary sewer as defined in A.R.S. § 45-101;4. Except as provided in subsection (5), when providing child care services for infants or children who require diapering, a diaper changing area that meets the requirements in R9-5-503 is available in each infant room or indoor activity area used by an enrolled infant or child who wears diapers or disposable training pants; 5. A diaper changing area is not required in an activity area that is: a. Only used by enrolled children for snacks or meals,b. Used for a specific activity by enrolled children who are two years of age or older, orc. An indoor activity area that is being substituted for an outdoor activity area under R9-5-602(D); and6. A glass mirror, window, or other glass surface that is located within 36 inches of the floor is made of safety glass that has been manufactured, fabricated, or treated to prevent the glass from shattering or flying when struck or broken, or is shielded by a barrier to prevent impact by or physical injury to an enrolled child.Ariz.
