Section R18-2-805 - Asphalt or Tar KettlesA. No person shall cause, allow or permit to be emitted into the atmosphere from any asphalt or tar kettle smoke for any period greater than 10 consecutive seconds, the opacity of which exceeds 40%.B. In addition to complying with subsection (A), no person shall cause, allow or permit the operation of an asphalt or tar kettle without minimizing air contaminant emissions by utilizing all of the following control measures: 1. The control of temperature recommended by the asphalt or tar manufacturer;2. The operation of the kettle with lid closed except when charging;3. The pumping of asphalt from the kettle or the drawing of asphalt through cocks with no dipping;4. The dipping of tar in an approved manner;5. The maintaining of the kettle in clean, properly adjusted, and good operating condition;6. The firing of the kettle with liquid petroleum gas or other fuels acceptable to the Director.Ariz. Admin.
