Section 5 AAC 77.666 - Personal use Tanner crab fishery(a) Except as provided in (b) of this section, in the personal use taking of Tanner crab, (1) Tanner crab may be taken only from July 1 through June 15;(2) the daily bag and possession limit is 30 male Tanner crab;(3) notwithstanding 5 AAC 77.010(i), no more than four pots or 10 ring nets per vessel may be used to take Tanner crab; a pot used to take Tanner crab under this section must have at least two circular escape rings on opposing vertical or sloping sides of the pot that each are not less than four and three-quarter inches inside diameter;(4) only male Tanner crab 5.5 inches or greater in width of shell may be taken or possessed;(5) male Tanner crab less than the minimum legal size and female Tanner crab that have been taken must be immediately returned unharmed to the sea;(6) a person may not utilize live holding facility to accumulate or pool multiple bag limits.(b) In Section 11-A, as described in 5 AAC 33.200, in the personal use taking of Tanner crab, if the pot and ring net limits for red and blue king crab are reduced under 5 AAC 77.664(e)(2)(C), the pot and ring net limits for Tanner crab will also be reduced to the same pot and ring net limits established for red and blue king crab under 5 AAC 77.664(c)(2)(C).Eff. 7/1/86, Register 99; am 8/8/99, Register 151; am 7/29/2009, Register 191; am 5/11/2012, Register 202; am 8/27/2016, Register 219, October 2016; am 9/19/2019,Register 231, August 2019
