Section 5 AAC 35.520 - Size limits for Registration Area J(a) Only male Tanner crab of the species Chionoecetes opilio3.1 inches or greater in width of shell may be taken or possessed.(b) In the Bering Sea District, Tanner crab size limits are as follows: (1) male C. bairdiTanner crab, or hybrid Tanner crab conforming to the identification criteria described in 5 AAC 35.521(a), must be 4.8 inches or greater in width of shell, except that in the waters west of 166º W. long., male C. bairdiTanner crab, or hybrid Tanner crab conforming to the identification criteria described in 5 AAC 35.521(a), must be 4.4 inches or greater in width of shell;(2) male C. opilioTanner crab, or hybrid Tanner crab conforming to the identification criteria described at 5 AAC 35.521(b), must be 3.1 inches or greater in width of shell.Eff. 7/25/82, Register 83; em am 3/12/91 - 6/11/91, Register 117; am 4/30/91, Register 118; em am 1/9/92 - 5/7/92, Register 121; am 1/24/92, Register 121; am 9/29/96, Register 139; am 7/1/2006, Register 178; am 7/16/2011, Register 199
