Section 22 AAC 05.200 - Prisoner classification(a) The commissioner will establish classification procedures for the purpose of making the appropriate assignment of a prisoner with regard to facility placement, custody status, and work and rehabilitative programs.(b) The department will assign a prisoner to the least restrictive custody level based on an assessment of the prisoner's behavioral risk factors, supervision needs, and rehabilitative needs that is consistent to provide for staff, inmate, and public safety, and is within the resources available to the department.Eff. 9/10/77, Register 63; am 11/3/84, Register 92; am 1/9/87, Register 101; am 1/13/2012, Register 201Authority:AS 33.30.011
