Section 17 AAC 15.551 - Engineering standards

Railroad facilities installed across or within a department right-of-way must comply with 17 AAC 15.301 and with the following codes and standards:

(1) standard plans, engineering instructions, and engineering guidelines maintained by the Alaska Railroad Corporation under AS 42.40;
(2) where not specifically referenced or applicable under (1) of this section. appropriate portions of the Manual for Railway Engineering (MRE) of the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-way Association (AREMA), as the Alaska Railroad Corporation determines under AS 42.40;
(3)Alaska Traffic Manual, Part 8, adopted by reference in 17 AAC 20.950(1);
(4)Federal-Aid Highway Program Manual (for federal-aid highway projects),
(A) Railroad-Highway Projects, 23 C.F.R. 646.200- 646.220, revised as of April 1, 2020;
(B) Railroad-Highway Insurance Protection Required of Contractors, 23 C.F.R. 646.103- 646.111, revised as of April 1, 2020;
(C) Highway-Rail Crossing Handbook, 3rd Edition, revised as of April 1, 2020.
