Section 13 AAC 02.240 - Obedience to signal indicating approach of train(a) When a person driving a vehicle approaches a railroad grade crossing under circumstances described in this section, the driver of the vehicle shall stop within 50 feet, but not less than 15 feet, from the nearest rail of the railroad, and may not proceed until he can do so safely. This stop is required when (1) a clearly visible electric or mechanical signal device gives warning of the immediate approach of a railroad train;(2) a crossing gate is lowered or is being lowered, or when a flagman gives either a signal to stop or a signal of the approach or passage of a railroad train;(3) a railroad train approaching within approximately 1,500 feet of the highway crossing emits a signal audible from that distance and the railroad train, by reason of its speed or nearness to the crossing, is an immediate hazard to crossing traffic; or(4) an approaching railroad train is visible and is in hazardous proximity to a crossing.(b) No person may drive a vehicle through, around or under a crossing gate or barrier at a railroad crossing while the gate or barrier is closed or is being opened or closed.In effect before 7/28/59; am 12/15/61, Register 3; am 8/10/66, Register 22; am 12/31/69, Register 31; am 6/28/79, Register 70
