Section 12 AAC 48.990 - Definitions
(a) In this chapter,
(1) "ophthalmic prosthetic products" means a device used for or incident to correction of a visual anomaly including eye glasses, lenses, contact lenses, frames, or any component of them;
(2) "board" means the Alaska Board of Examiners in Optometry;
(3) "contact hour" means a minimum of 50 minutes of instruction;
(4) "department" means the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development;
(5) deleted 11/9/2006.
(b) In AS 08.72.272(a)(2), "physician-patient relationship" means that
(1) a person, or someone on the person's behalf, has sought optometric examination or treatment of the person;
(2) the optometrist has accepted the person as a patient and conducted an optometric examination and evaluation of the patient; and
(3) the professional relationship between the optometrist and the patient has not been terminated.

As of Register 109, 12 AAC 48.080 was redesignated as 12 AAC 48.990. The history note for the section under its former number was carried forward to the new location.

As of Register 171 (October 2004), the regulations attorney made technical revisions under AS 44.62.125(b)(6) to reflect the name change of the Department of Community and Economic Development to the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development made by ch. 47, SLA 2004 and the corresponding title change of the commissioner of community and economic development.

With Register 180, January 2007 and under the authority of AS 44.62.125, the regulations attorney changed obsolete terminology concerning the division of occupational licensing and the division of banking and securities in conformity with ch. 14, SLA 2005 and to reflect the transfer of certain corporations functions within the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development.
