Section 920-X-1-.02 - The Department(1) The Department of Veterans Affairs is established pursuant to Title 31, Chapter 5,' Code of Ala. 1975. Title 38 of the United States Code creates federal benefits to which an eligible veteran, their dependents or survivors may be entitled. The primary function of the department is to provide assistance to all former, present, and future members of the Armed Forces of the United States and their dependents or survivors in formulating and processing claims for and securing such compensation, pension, hospitalization, education, burial, and other benefits or privileges to which said person(s) or any of them are or may become entitled under any federal or state law or regulation by reason of their service in the Armed Forces of the United States.(2) The department operates under the supervision and control of the State Board of Veterans Affairs in accordance with these rules and regulations and the applicable provisions of the Alabama Code.Author:
