Section 540-X-3-.06 - Education Council For Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) Certification Requirement(1) All applicants who graduated from a college of medicine not accredited by the Liaison Committee of Medical Education or the American Osteopathic Association shall achieve certification given by the Education Council for Foreign Medical Graduates or shall achieve a Fifth Pathway Certification and pass the examination administered by the Education Council For Foreign Medical Graduates. For the purposes of this rule, Fifth Pathway Certification and passage of the examination administered by the Education Council For Foreign Medical Graduates is hereby deemed equivalent to certification given by the Education Council For Foreign Medical Graduates. Proof of certification or passage of the examination must be sent directly from the Education Council for Foreign Medical Graduates to the Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners. Proof of Fifth Pathway Certification must be sent directly from the certifying agency to the Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners.(2) Documentation submitted through the Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS) may be accepted to demonstrate compliance with the requirements of this rule.Ala.
