Section 420-3-23-.08 - Preparation And Care Of The Body Art Area(1) Skin preparation -If shaving is necessary, single use disposable razors with single service blades shall be used and discarded after each use. Straight razors may be used, provided the razor handles are properly sterilized between use and the razor blades are discarded and properly disposed after a single use. Following shaving, the skin and surrounding area shall be cleaned with soap and water or an approved surgical skin preparation, depending on the type of body art to be performed. When shaving is not done, the immediate and surrounding area of the skin where the body art procedure is to be placed shall be cleaned with soap and water or an approved surgical skin preparation. Cleansing pads shall be discarded after a single use.(2) Supplies contaminated with blood -In the event of blood flow, all products used to check the flow of blood or to absorb blood shall be single-use and disposed of immediately after use in appropriate covered containers, unless the disposal products meet the definition of biomedical waste.
