Section 360-X-4-.01 - [Effective 12/15/2024] Certified First Responder Inspector

(1) Requirements

(a) The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED certificate.

(b) Minimum age requirement is 18 years.

(c) Examination. There will be an examination for state certification for each level of progression provided by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission.

1. An overall score of 70% is required for the successful completion of this examination.

2. Re-test may be taken after 30 days and within 12 months of course completion.

3. All certification testing, to include re-testing, must be completed within 12 months of the course completion date.

(2) Administration

(a) Scope. This standard identifies the professional levels of competence required to perform the duties of a First Responder Inspector Fire Inspector I. It specifically covers the requirements for knowledge and the progression through levels of competency.

(b) Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to specify in terms of performance objectives the minimum requirements of professional competence required for service as a First Responder Inspector Fire Inspector I. It is not the intent of this standard to restrict any jurisdiction from exceeding these minimum requirements.

(c) General.

1. All of the performance standards for any level of Fire Inspector shall meet the following criteria: They shall be performed with competence; each objective shall be met in its entirety.

2. It is not required that the objectives be mastered in the order in which they appear.

3. The fire inspector Inspector shall meet all of the objectives for First Responder Inspector Fire Inspector I before being certified at the level, and before applying for qualification at the next higher level.

(3) Objectives

(a) The objectives of this standard are based on the ability of the First Responder Inspector Fire Inspector I to demonstrate knowledge and skills as outlined in the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission Teaching Outline for First Responder Inspector Fire Inspector I, current edition.
