Section 360-X-20-.02 - Certified Live Fire Instructor In Charge
(1) Requirements.
(a) The candidate must be a certified Fire Instructor II.
(b) The candidate must be a certified Live Fire Instructor.
(c) The candidate must have 3 years' service as a certified fire fighter.
(d) Examination. There will be an examination for state certification provided by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission.
1. An overall score of 70% is required for the successful completion of this examination.
2. Re-test may be taken after 30 days and within 12 months of course completion.
3. All certification testing, to include re-testing, must be completed within 12 months of the course completion date.
(2) Administration.
(a) Scope. This standard identifies the levels of competence required to perform the duties of a Live Fire Instructor In Charge.
(b) Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to specify minimum requirements of competence for Live Fire Instructor In Charge. It is not the intent of this standard to restrict any jurisdiction from exceeding these minimum requirements.
1. One of the purposes of the qualification requirements contained herein is to reduce the number of accidents and injuries during live fire training.
(c) General.
1. The candidate shall meet all of the requirements for this standard before being certified as Live Fire Instructor In Charge.
2. Each performance objective for the Live Fire Instructor in Charge shall be performed swiftly, safely, and with competence. Each objective shall be met in its entirety.
3. It is not required for the objectives to be mastered in the order they appear.
(3) Objectives.
(a) The objectives of this standard are based on the ability of the candidate to demonstrate knowledge and skills as outlined in the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission Teaching Outline for Live Fire Instructor In Charge, current edition.
