Section 360-X-10-.01 - Certified Public Safety Telecommunicator I
(1) Requirements
(a) The candidate must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
(b) The minimum age requirement is 18 years.
(c) Examination. There will be an examination for state certification for each level of progression provided by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission.
1. The practical skills identified in the Public Safety Telecommunicator Teaching Outline for this level of training should be utilized by the candidate and by the instructor to prepare the candidate to the level required to meet competency standards identified in the teaching outline.
2. An overall score of 70% is required for the successful completion of this examination.
3. Re-test may be taken after 30 days and within 12 months of course completion.
4. All certification testing, to include re-testing, must be completed within 12 months of the course completion date.
(2) Administration
(a) Scope. This standard identifies the professional levels of competence required to perform the duties of a Public Safety Telecommunicator I.
(b) Purpose. The purpose of this standard is to specify, in terms of performance objectives, the minimum requirements of professional competence required for service as a Public Safety Telecommunicator I. It is not the intent of this standard to restrict any jurisdiction from exceeding these minimum requirements.
(c) General
1. The candidate shall meet all of the requirements for this standard before being certified as Public Safety Telecommunicator I.
2. Each performance objective for the Public Safety Telecommunicator I shall be performed swiftly, safely, and with competence. Each objective shall be met in its entirety.
3. It is not required for the objectives to be mastered in the order they appear.
(3) Objectives
(a) The objectives of this course are based on the ability of the Public Safety Telecommunicator I to demonstrate knowledge and skills as outlined in the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission Teaching Outline for Public Safety Telecommunicator I, current edition.
