Section 335-3-6-.02 - VOC Water Separation(1) Rule 335-3-6-.02 shall apply to VOCs with a true vapor pressure greater than or equal to 1.5 psia under storage conditions.(2) No person shall use any compartment of any single or multiple compartment VOC water separator which receives effluent water containing 1,000 gallons a day or more of any VOC from processing, refining, treating, storing, or handling VOCs, unless such compartment is equipped with one of the following vapor loss control devices, properly installed, in good working order, and in operation: (a) a container having all openings sealed and totally enclosing the liquid contents. All gauging and sampling devices shall be gastight, except when gauging or sampling is performed.(b) a container equipped with a floating roof consisting of a pontoon type, double-deck type roof or internal floating cover which shall rest on the surface of the contents and be equipped with a closure seal or seals to close the space between the roof edge and containing walls. All gauging or sampling devices shall be gastight, except when gauging or sampling is performed.(c) a container equipped with a vapor recovery system consisting of a vapor gathering system capable of collecting the VOC vapors and gases dispersed and a vapor disposal system capable of processing such VOC vapors and gases so as to prevent their emission into the atmosphere. All container gauging and sampling devices shall be gastight, except when gauging or sampling is performed.(d) a container having other equipment of equal efficiency for purposes of air pollution control as may be approved by the Director.
