Section 305-2-1-.01 - Purpose

The Energy Division's duties are to formulate a state energy policy, to report to the Governor and annually to the legislature, to inventory the state's energy requirements and supplies, to formulate a state energy management program, to formulate an energy emergency plan, to monitor and/or administer energy related programs, to serve as an energy information clearinghouse, to keep proprietary information confidential, to administer educational and training programs, to review state government energy practices, to assist state institutions when applying for energy related contracts, to review the state's revenue-producing practices for their impact on energy use and development, to provide for research, to receive federal and private funds, to enter into contracts, and to promulgate rules requiring the submission of energy related information, and to ensure energy conservation in state government, and to establish advisory groups.
