Notice and request for comments.

SUMMARY:

The Department of the Treasury, as part of its continuing effort to reduce paperwork and respondent burden, invites the general public and other Federal agencies to take this opportunity to comment on proposed and/or continuing information collections, as required by the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, Public Law 104-13 (44 U.S.C. 3506(c)(2)(A)). Currently, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms within the Department of the Treasury is soliciting comments concerning the Certification of Secure Gun Storage or Safety Devices.

Abstract: The requested information on ATF 5300.42 will be used to ensure that applicants for a Federal firearms license are in compliance with the requirements pertaining to the availability of secure gun storage or safety devices.

Current Actions: There are no changes to this information collection and it is being submitted for extension purposes only.

Estimated Number of Respondents: 31,000.

Estimated Total Annual Burden Hours: 600.
