Section 58-64-50 - Investigations and subpoenas(a) The Commissioner may make such public or private investigations within or outside of this State as necessary (i) to determine whether any person has violated or is about to violate any provision of this Article, (ii) to aid in the enforcement of this Article, or (iii) to verify statements contained in any disclosure statement filed or delivered under this Article.(b) For the purpose of any investigation or proceeding under this Article, the Commissioner may require or permit any person to file a statement in writing, under oath or otherwise, as to any of the facts and circumstances concerning the matter to be investigated.(c) For the purpose of any investigation or proceeding under this Article, the Commissioner or his designee has all the powers given to him for insurance companies. He may administer oaths and affirmations, subpoena witnesses, compel their attendance, take evidence, and require the production of any books, papers, correspondence, memoranda, agreements, or other documents or records deemed relevant or material to the inquiry, all of which may be enforced in the Superior Court of Wake County.N.C.
