Section R714-164-7 - School Bus Drivers' Vehicle Condition Reports(1) Each education entity shall require its drivers to prepare a report for a school bus prior to the driver's operation of the school bus.(2) The report shall include, at a minimum, the condition of the following parts and accessories: (c) lighting devices and reflectors;(e) wheels, rims, fastening devices;(g) windshield wipers and washers;(i) seats and seat barriers;(3) Each school bus condition report must identify the school bus and list any defect or deficiency discovered by, or reported to the driver which could affect the safe operation of the school bus or result in a mechanical breakdown.(4) Each school bus condition report must be prepared and submitted to the education entity even if no defect or deficiency is discovered by, or reported to the driver.(5) Prior to requiring or permitting a driver to operate a school bus, each education entity or its agent shall: (a) repair any defect or deficiency listed on the driver's school bus condition report which would likely affect the safe of operation of the school bus; and(b) certify on the original driver school bus condition report that: (i) the defect or deficiency has been repaired; or(ii) repairs are unnecessary before the school bus is operated again.(6) Each education entity shall maintain the original driver school bus condition report and the certification of repairs, if any, for a period of one year from the date the school bus condition report was created.(a) These records shall be readily available for review and inspection in accordance with Section R714-164-9.Utah Admin.
