Section 16-77-42 - Use of interpreters
(a) In exceptional cases with the express approval of the board, an applicant may use an interpreter to read and translate the examination questions to the applicant in the examination room.
(b) An interpreter shall be prohibited from answering, in any way, the questions for the applicant. Any violation of this subsection shall constitute examination misconduct and the applicant shall be subject to penalties provided in section 16-77-46. The applicant shall be responsible for obtaining an interpreter, who shall not currently be or have been in the construction business, and shall pay a fee in addition to the examination fee. The board may evaluate the person's qualifications to be an interpreter and may restrict the number of times a person can be an interpreter in a twelve-month period.
