Section 7 AAC 100.306 - Medicaid eligibility for newborns
(a) A child born to a woman who was eligible for and receiving Medicaid in the month of delivery, including retroactive eligibility determined under 7 AAC 100.072, is eligible for Medicaid under 7 AAC 100.002(a) (5) and this section without application. Without regard to any changes in household income that may occur, eligibility continues until the end of the month in which the child turns one year of age, if
(1) the child continues to live in the birth mother's household; and
(2) both mother and child remain residents of the state.
(b) A child born to an alien receiving coverage for an emergency medical condition under 7 AAC 100.700 is eligible for Medicaid under this section.
(c) A child eligible under this section is considered to have met all of the same Medicaid eligibility requirements imposed on the mother, including citizenship and Social Security number requirements, until the child's eligibility ends under (a) of this section. For Medicaid coverage after the child's eligibility under this section ends, the child must submit a new Medicaid application or a request to be added to an ongoing Medicaid household. To be eligible, the child must meet all eligibility requirements of the category for which the child is applying.
