BORG CORPORATION and UNITED CLOCK WORKERS UNION Case No. R-1879 CERTIFICATION OF REPRESENTATIVES September 7,1940 On July 16, 1940, the National Labor Relations Board, herein called the Board, issued a Decision and Direction of Election in this .proceeding.' On August 3, 1940, the Board issued an Order Denying Petition For Rehearing and Amendment to Decision and Direction of Election.2 Pursuant to the Direction of Election, as amended, an election by secret ballot was conducted on August 13, 1940, under the direction and supervision of the Regional Director for the Thirteenth Region, Chicago, Illinois. On August 20, 1940, the Regional Director, acting pursuant to Article III, Section 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2, as amended, issued and duly served upon the parties an Election Report. As to the balloting and its results, the Regional Director reported as follows: Total number eligible, and alleged by company to be on payroll of June 1, 1940, even though some may not have been working on the pay-roll date but were temporarily laid off ------------ 221 Total number of ballots cast--------------------------------- 215 Total number of valid ballots cast---------------------------- 180 Total number of ballots cast for United Clock Workers Union__ 13 Total number of ballots cast for Local Union No. B-713, Interna- tional Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, affiliated with the American Federation of Labor----------------------------- 119 Ballots cast for neither organization__________________________ 48 Protested ballots --------------------------- ------ 35 Blank ballots----------------------------------------------- 0 Void ballots------------------------------------------------ 0 No objections to the conduct of the ballot or to the Election Report were filed by any of the parties. B, No, 24 95 96 DECISIONS OF NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD By virtue of and pursuant to Section 9 (c) of the National Labor Relations Act, 49 Stat. 449, and pursuant to Article III, Sections 8 and 9, of National Labor Relations Board Rules and Regulations-Series 2, as amended, IT IS HEREBY cERTIrIED that, Local Union No. B-713 of the Inter- national Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, affiliated with the Ameri- can Federation of Labor, has been designated and selected by a major- ity of all production and maintenance employees and working f ore- men of The George W. Borg Corporation, at the Chicago plant, ex- cluding supervisory, clerical, and toolroom employees, as their repre- sentative for the purposes of collective bargaining, and that, pursuant to Section 9 (a) of the National Labor Relations Act, Local Union B-713 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, affili- ated with the American Federation of Labor, is the exclusive repre- sentative of all such employees for the purposes of collective bargain- ing in respect to rates of pay, wages, hours of employment, and other conditions of employment.
